Large 1894 Cancer Zodiac Sterling Spoon Ring
This ornate sterling gem from 1894 is one of the set of twelve Zodiac spoons created by the silver artisans at Gorham Co.
Dripping with detail all along this handle, I made this ring into a spiral to include every detail, including the floral design that dipped into the bowl of the spoon. This beauty is made from a full size teaspoon and thus the ring is a substantial piece, a wonderful statement ring. The ring is currently a size 10 in the picture and I would say these rings work best in sizes 9 and up, but I can make it any size; smaller sizes will further overlap the spiral while larger sizes bring the ends of the spoon more on top of one another.
***When these Zodiac pieces were designed 129 years ago, each sign was assigned to just one month.
I have received many questions about the second months not represented in the set (i.e. Cancer display the month of June, and no version for July Cancers) and while these second were never designed for the Zodiac sets of this era, I can remove the lettering of the month on the piece if you would like one of these beauties! Just leave a note in the order notes if you would like the lettering removed - this modification will make the sale final as I cannot accept a return of a customized ring.***
If there is more than one ring available in any pattern, each ring will come with it’s own character; there might be a wonderful faded monogram or little wear spots that might differ from the pictured ring. All rings are made from the original spoons and you will truly be receiving a one-of-a-kind piece!

Feel of the ring: Large, substantial statement ring. This pattern does not work well as a thumb ring or in smaller sizes.

I love spoon rings. And I love hunting for the most beautiful spoons to make them! Spoon rings are a little wearable piece of history allowing the story to be shared and I love that these ornate beauties get to be enjoyed and not banished to some drawer for decades.
All The rings I make are from the original antique spoons - none are copies or casts. So each ring is not only beautiful in design, but full of indications that it has lived life. Maybe a faded monogram or little wear spots - I enjoy thinking about the places they have been and who might have held them 100 years ago. Each ring is, therefore, truly unique. I have discovered more than one of some of these spoon patterns, so each ring will come with its own character and story, varying slightly on little wear spots and marks - There will not be two that are the same! I put care into the creation of each ring. I put thought into how the ring should best be shaped to frame and display the design of the spoon.
