1878 Diana Tiffany & Co. Olympian Sterling Spoon Ring

$450.00

A crowning achievement in my spoon-collecting journey is owning pieces from the famed 1878 Olympian set by Tiffany & Co.

By far the most ornate and elaborate silverware set created by Tiffany & Co. (and, I would argue, most elaborate set ever made in general), a full Olympian silverware set is comprised of an extensive 380 pieces of silverware. And within those 380 pieces, Tiffany & Co. craftsmen designed 17 completely unique & detailed scenes from Greek and Roman mythology to adorn the entire length of each handle.

A small fraction of those pieces feature the exquisite scene on this ring. Diana the Huntstress, reclined in blissful solitude among the untamed depths of the forest, accompanied by her two hounds; Syrius and Phocion.

Who is she?

Roman mythology’s own Diana; goddess of the hunt, untamed nature, the moon, and the boundaries separating wild from civilized, living from dead. Master of the bow, she roamed the wilderness seeking adventure and hunting game.

Shunning the company of mortals and gods, Diana preferred the solitude of the forests and kept the company of nymphs and woodland creatures. A maiden for all her days, she rejected the advances of potential lovers and suitors and found herself complete and content among the unspoiled depths of the forest.

Tiffany & Co.

There is something about the craftsmanship and design Tiffany & Co. is known for that stand far out from the crowd. There was no object that they made that was commonplace or mundane. Vast efforts were poured into making every day objects into aesthetic treasures and the fact that the name ‘Tiffany & Co.’ still draws little gasps of awe when it’s spoken bears witness to the company’s repute for excellence and beauty.

This spectacular little treasure is a substantial amount of silver. Using the entire handle, I have included all the detail from this ornate fork.
The ring fits smooth and comfortably on the hand.

Age: 1878 Tiffany & Co. Olympian

Oh, If Spoons Could Talk

I love spoon rings. And I love hunting for the most beautiful spoons to make them! Spoon rings are a little wearable piece of history allowing the story to be shared and I love that these ornate beauties get to be enjoyed and not banished to some drawer for decades.

All The rings I make are from the original antique spoons - none are copies or casts. So each ring is not only beautiful in design, but full of indications that it has lived life. Maybe a faded monogram or little wear spots - I enjoy thinking about the places they have been and who might have held them 100 years ago. Each ring is, therefore, truly unique. I have discovered more than one of some of these spoon patterns, so each ring will come with its own character and story, varying slightly on little wear spots and marks - There will not be two that are the same! I put care into the creation of each ring. I put thought into how the ring should best be shaped to frame and display the design of the spoon. I will send pictures of your ring sized to the size you would like before I ship so you can see just how it will arrive!

I hope the ring you choose will be a piece you treasure for generations.
